Professional psychotherapy in English

A safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions without anything getting lost in translation. Online sessions or in-person in Hillerød.

Living abroad can quietly erode your confidence and clarity

When you move abroad, it’s not just geography you leave behind. It is a loss of culture, familiarity and belonging.

Moving abroad means leaving your ability to express your thoughts and feelings with ease and trusting that you will be fully understood. It also means leaving a part of yourself behind. This identity shift can trigger profound feelings of disconnection, loneliness and the stress of constantly trying to fit in.

Specializing in the expat experience

I provide a safe, English-speaking environment to help you navigate the unique challenges of building a life in Denmark. My work focuses on the emotional activation of international life, addressing deeper patterns like attachment styles, loneliness, anxiety, and the collapse of the identity structures you once knew.

Whether you are struggling with unspoken social norms, understanding hierarchies at work or the grief of leaving your old life behind, I offer professional support to help you reclaim your emotional safety, your sense of self and belonging.

About me

As a therapist I am deeply focused on all aspects of human connection. But I am also a woman, mother and partner with the lived experience of growing up between cultures.

I lived the first 6 years of my life in England surrounded by loving grandparents, aunts and uncles. There was a safety of the familiar that you are not aware of as a child. Whether good or bad, life has a certain rhythm in the country you are born in.

When you move to another country, it’s not just geography you leave behind. You leave behind the people you love, as well as the language, the values and the cultural practices of everyday life. Moving abroad at any age is a significant shift that destabilizes our sense of self, safety and identity.

Ever since moving to Denmark as a six-year-old, I’ve been drawn to reading atmospheres and emotions. This early sensitivity grew into a lifelong passion for everything that makes us human.

I am always curious about the experiences we carry and how they shape our emotional patterns, our behaviour and health. My knowledge is shaped by an academic interest in psychology, biology, and neuroscience and a deep fascination for everything in between. The intangible, emotional experience of being human.

Therapeutic approach and values

My therapeutic approach is rooted in attachment theory, nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, existential and emotionally-focused therapy (EFT). I am deeply passionate about supporting people navigating the ups and downs of life, helping them find a greater sense of self confidence and peace of mind, and my guiding principles are curiosity, connection and compassion.

Curiosity is my primary tool as a therapist. I use it to explore the themes, emotions, and patterns at play in your life, entirely free from preconceived assumptions about who you are or what you need.

Connection. Every session is a unique encounter between two people, with you at the center. I base my analytical observations and interventions on a combination of theory, experience, emotional and somatic awareness. This means that in every single session, I am fully focused on creating a safe and meaningful connection with you and whatever you bring into the space that day.

Compassion. Sharing your deepest feelings and thoughts requires a profound sense of safety and trust between therapist and client. I meet you with compassion and an open, non-judgmental attitude, that fosters the trust that is essential for emotional growth.
